Orders

Building orders at a table and running the kitchen/bar board.

Orders

DQ Core doubles as your point of sale. Build an order against a table's tab, then track it through the kitchen or bar until it's delivered.

Building an Order

  1. Open a table's tab (from the floor, or from Table detail) and choose add order — this opens that table's menu.
  2. Tap items to add them to the cart. Quantities and the running total update live.
  3. Go to checkout, review the order, and place it.

Placing an order attaches it to that table's booking and adds it to the tab. Placing orders is available to most floor roles — Owners, Managers, Hosts, Waiters, Runners, and Bar/Dispense staff — since most of the team needs to take orders at some point.

The Order Board

The Orders tab is the kitchen/bar view: every active order, grouped by where it's up to.

Pending → Preparing → Ready → Delivered

Moving an order forward through these stages is handled by Owners, Managers, Runners, and Bar/Dispense staff — the roles focused on fulfilment. Waiters and Hosts can place orders but don't move them along the board.

The Run List

On a phone, the control at the top of the Orders tab switches between Orders and Run List.

Where the board shows every order by stage, the Run List shows only what needs carrying — orders ready to go out, comped items to run, runner requests and payment requests — grouped by table. It's the view for someone walking the floor rather than standing at a station. Tablets in landscape always show the board.

See The Run List for the full guide.

Order Detail

Opening a single order shows its full line-by-line breakdown, current status, and who placed it and last touched it. Nothing is ever summarised away — the complete history of every order line is kept, so you can always see exactly what was ordered and when.

Order History

A complete list of past orders is available to Owners and Managers — useful for reconciling a shift after the fact.

Orders and the Tab

Orders themselves never settle money — they simply add to the table's tab total. Payments are what actually settle the bill (see the Payments guide), and a tab can't be closed while it's unpaid.

Troubleshooting

An order vanished right after placing it. You may not have permission to place orders on your account — check with a manager.

Can't move an order along the board. Moving orders is limited to Owners, Managers, Runners, and Bar/Dispense staff.

Order history looks empty or is missing. It's only visible to Owners and Managers.

There's no Orders / Run List toggle. The Run List is phone-only — a tablet in landscape always shows the board.
